GUN NOT POINTED AT BUS DRIVER IN INCIDENT ON READING ROAD

CINCINNATI – There have been inaccurate media reports concerning the incident yesterday on Metro’s Rt. 43 in Avondale.

The gun was not at any time pointed at the bus driver.  The Cincinnati Police have reviewed the video from the bus’s camera system, which confirms this.  The video is considered evidence in this case.

There are four cameras and an audio recording system on almost all Metro buses.  The cameras are installed in the following locations:

  • One at the front of the bus by the front door
  • Two covering middle and back of bus
  • One looking out the front window

The camera systems are completely automatic.  Each digital image is encrypted for security, date- and time-stamped, and tamperproof.

Monday’s incident recap

On Monday, June 6, around 10:37 a.m., two males stepped onto a Rt. 43 Metro bus (inbound) at Reading Road & Shuttlesworth Circle.  One showed a gun and made inquiries about anyone being from Bond Hill.  Both soon left the bus.  About 15 passengers were on-board.

The gun was not pointed at anyone.  No shots were fired and no one was injured.  The bus driver was upset and transported to University Hospital.  She was released early afternoon.

Metro is assisting Cincinnati Police in their efforts to apprehend the individuals.
