METRO PREPARING FOR TEMPORARY FIFTH
STREET CLOSING
Brochures, supervisors, discounts, electronic alerts help
Metro riders
CINCINNATI
-- Beginning Monday, Feb. 20, several Metro routes and bus stops
will be affected by the temporary closure of Fifth Street
between Vine and Walnut: Rt. 1, 2X, 3X, 6, 10, 25X, 27, 28, 28X, 32,
33, 40X, 44X,
46, 49, 50, 66, 67, 77X, and 81X.
Detour brochures, more
supervisors
Metro will station additional supervisors at downtown
bus stops before and after the street closing to assist customers
with the changes. A brochure detailing the changes route-by-route
is now available
at www.go-metro.com and printed copies will be available
later this week from MetroCenter at 621-4455.
Monthly pass and
token sale
To encourage ridership during construction, Metro
will offer a 10% discount on monthly bus passes and tokens
for the month of March. Metro’s March passes go on sale beginning
Feb. 15 and tokens will be discounted beginning Feb. 27.
Monthly passes
are available at the BusStop sales office,
Mercantile Building arcade (near Walgreens, 120 E. Fourth
Street downtown), at community sales outlets, and by mail
order. Tokens can be purchased
at the BusStop sales office only; limit 40 per customer. Commuter
Alerts text messaging and e-mail
Metro also has added a
service called Commuter Alerts that will send time-sensitive
bus detour alerts via text messaging
to cell phones/PDAs or e-mail. Metro customers can register
free at www.sorta.com.
Every bus counts
Every full Metro bus represents 50 fewer
cars on downtown streets during construction. About 25%
of downtown workers currently ride Metro. # # #
