METRO DISCOUNTS MARCH MONTHLY PASSES
AND TOKENS
“10% off sale” to lure commuters out of cars
during Fifth Street
closing
CINCINNATI
-- It’s not often that a government agency has a sale.
Metro
is offering a 10% discount on MetroCard monthly passes for
March and tokens in an effort to lure downtown commuters
out of their cars – and out of traffic during the Fifth Street
closing – and
onto the bus.
Regular MetroCard monthly pass prices range
from $40 to $90, before the discount. Tokens are normally
$1. March passes go on sale beginning Wednesday, Feb. 15
and tokens will be
discounted
beginning
Feb. 27.
Monthly passes are available at the BusStop sales
office, Mercantile Building arcade (near Walgreens, 120 E.
Fourth Street downtown), at community sales outlets, and
by mail order. Tokens can be purchased
at the BusStop sales office only; limit 40 per customer.
Metro
ready for Fifth Street closure on Feb. 20
About 20 Metro routes
will be affected by the closing of Fifth Street between Vine
and Walnut beginning Monday, Feb.
20.
Metro is taking several steps to help customers prepare:
- More supervision at downtown bus stops affected
by the street closing, before and after the closing
- Special
detour brochures detailing route and bus stop changes
- Commuter
Alerts via text messaging to cell phones/PDAs or e-mail
