METRO’S CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER RECEIVES STATEWIDE HONOR
CINCINNATI – H. Theodore Bergh, Metro’s Chief Financial Officer, has received the prestigious Leonard Ronis Excellence in Transit Award, presented by the Ohio Public Transit Association.
The award is given to a transit professional who has developed and implemented innovative programs to improve public transit in the community and demonstrated leadership and vision while advancing the transit industry in Ohio. Among Bergh’s many accomplishments is the creation of the Everybody Rides Metro foundation, the first transit 501(c)(3) charitable organization in the country.
Before joining Metro in 2005, Bergh served as the Vice President/Finance of the Cincinnati Enquirer, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gannett Company – the largest owner of daily newspapers in the US. He also held positions at the Cherry Hill, NJ, Tucson, AZ, and Elmira, NY, newspapers for Gannett. He was the recipient of several awards and honors, including Gannett’s Financial Executive of the Year award. Bergh is also the past president of the Ohio Newspaper Association. He previously served as a controller for a manufacturing firm in Elmira, NY, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers in New York City.
Bergh holds an MBA in Finance from Cornell University, an MA in Theology from Xavier University, and a BA in Economics from Colgate University. He and his wife Margaret reside in Anderson Township. They have three children.
Metro and Access are non-profit public services of SORTA, providing about 22 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
