METRO C.E.O. SETZER LEAVES FOR V.P. POSITION WITH GLOBAL FIRM
Marilyn Shazor named as first female and first minority Metro CEO
CINCINNATI - Michael H. Setzer, CEO & General Manager of Metro and Secretary-Treasurer of the Everybody Rides Metro foundation, has resigned to accept a regional Vice President's position with global transportation management firm Veolia Transportation, with North American headquarters in Chicago, IL. He will continue to be involved with Metro in a contract management capacity.Setzer has served as Metro's CEO since 2004.
Setzer previously led transit systems in Minneapolis/St. Paul and St. Louis and has managed contracts with many transit systems nationally. With more than 30 years of transit management experience, Setzer is chairman of the American Public Transportation Association's Emergency Preparedness Task Force.
Marilyn G. Shazor has been appointed to replace Setzer as CEO, effective Monday, March 31. She is currently Chief Operating Officer for Metro.
Shazor is the first female and the first minority to hold the position of CEO at Metro.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Shazor served the U.S. Army in a number of increasingly responsible positions, leading, training and developing people.
After the Army, Shazor managed engineering projects for James River Corp. in Alabama and Mead Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. Her work included the oversight of engineering and construction firms.
Shazor's interest in the people side of business led her to a General Manager of Human Resources position in Dayton before she returned to college to attain a Master of Business Administration degree from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.
Shazor is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources, accredited by the Society for Human Resource Management. She is on the board of the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission and a member of the 2007-2008 Leadership Cincinnati class.
Shazor resides in West Chester with her two children.
Metro and Access are non-profit public services of SORTA, providing about 22 million rides per year in Greater Cincinnati.
