Metro Offers Free Shuttles to Matt Maupin Memorial Service
Downtown shuttles will transport mourners to Great American Ballpark
CINCINNATI - Metro will provide continuous free shuttles through downtown for Sunday's memorial service for fallen U.S. Army Sergeant Matt Maupin. He disappeared in Iraq on April 9, 2004, west of Baghdad, after insurgents stormed his convoy. Last month, his remains were found and identified.
"We extend our heart-felt sympathy to the Maupin family and join the nation in honoring Matt for his ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom," said Metro CEO Marilyn Shazor.
The memorial service for Matt Maupin is scheduled for Sunday April 27th at 1 p.m. at Great American Ballpark. Due to the large attendance that is predicted, Metro shuttles will begin running at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 4:00 p.m. They will transport guests to Great American Ballpark from parking areas around downtown.
The free Metro shuttles will transport memorial guests to and from Great American Ballpark from stops on the following route:
- Sycamore Street from Central Parkway to Third Street
- Third Street between Sycamore and Vine Street
- Vine Street between Third and Fifth
- Fifth Street between Fountain Square and Government Square
- Main Street between Fifth and Central Parkway
- Central Parkway between Main and Sycamore
Metro is a non-profit public service, providing about 23 million rides per year in the Greater Cincinnati community.
