METRO FARES TO INCREASE ON SUNDAY, FEB. 3

CINCINNATI - Metro fares will increase $0.50 in both Zone 1 (City of Cincinnati) and Zone 2 (to, from and within Hamilton County), effective Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.

The new base fares are shown below:

Metro base fares:

• Zone 1 (city) $1.50
• Zone 2 (county): $2.00

Fare Deal (elderly/disabled) and children (under age 5, 45"):

• Zone 1 (city): $0.75
• Zone 2 (county): $1.00

Monthly passes:

• Zone 1 (city): $55
• Zone 2 (county): $75
• Metro/TANK: $85
• Fare Deal sticker: $32.50 (unlimited rides, all zones)

There is no change in the transfer charge or fares for the Riverfront parking shuttle (subsidized by Duke Energy), services subsidized by Butler, Clermont and Warren counties, or Access paratransit service for people with disabilities.

The fare increase is necessary to help Metro replace older buses and to address rising fuel costs. The last fare increase was three years ago in February 2005.
